Spring 2026 Schedule

Wednesday, February 11, 11:00am-12:00pm
ASBN 100 (ground floor) and on Zoom

Getting Started with APA Style: Learn the essentials of the American Psychological Association (APA) citation style for your research papers. You'll learn how to use signal phrases to introduce sources, connect in-text citations with works cited entries, and use the APA Style Guide online. We'll also explore key concepts to help you document any type of source.

Wednesday, March 25, 11:00am-12:00pm
ASBN 100 (ground floor) and on Zoom

Writing Literature Reviews (with Alkek Library): Join us to learn about writing literature reviews, an essential part of research writing in any discipline. The workshop will introduce the purpose of a literature review; techniques for efficient and effective reading; strategies for synthesizing sources to avoid encyclopedic writing; and options for organization and structure. You'll leave prepared to write a literature review that justifies your research question and creates space for your contribution to the scholarly conversation. Please note: This workshop will focus primarily on understanding the literature review as a genre and using writing as a tool for thinking throughout the research process, rather than on critical library research skills (e.g., locating databases, using Boolean operators).

Wednesday, April 15, 11:00am-12:00pm
ASBN 100 (ground floor) and on Zoom:

Coffee & Commas Special Edition: AI Student Dialogue: Wondering how AI fits into your academic writing—or if it should at all? Join peer writing consultants for a student-led, judgment-free discussion about the ethical and practical questions surrounding AI in research and writing. This session will offer a space to share experiences, voice concerns, and ask questions. We’ll talk about how AI policies can vary across courses, explore differences between traditional editing tools and generative AI, and consider strategies for navigating these challenges, whether you use AI or avoid it entirely.
